Privacy policy

We built Chemistry4Kids to collect as little as possible. Here’s exactly what the app uses, why, and what you can do about it.

Effective 11 October 2026.

The short version
  • No accounts, no adverts, no in-app purchases and no chat.
  • We never ask for your child’s name, age, email address, location, photos, voice or contacts.
  • Your child’s progress stays on their device.
  • The app sends us anonymous daily totals, like how many times an Investigation was finished. We can’t tell which child or device they came from.
  • We never sell information, and sponsors never find out who uses the app.

1. Who we are

Chemistry4Kids is made by Mollix Ltd (“we” or “us”), a company registered in Northern Ireland (company number NI744338). We’re responsible for the information described here. Questions? Email privacy@mollix.app.

2. What stays on the device

To work, including offline, the app keeps these on the device:

We can’t see any of it. Delete the app and it’s gone.

3. What we receive

Anonymous daily totals

The app counts how each Investigation is used: how often it’s opened, started, finished and started over; how many questions were answered right first time; which Prediction choices were picked; where unfinished visits stopped; roughly how long it took; and how many trophies were won. For sponsored Investigations, it also counts how often the sponsor’s thank-you is shown and how often the sponsor links in the grown-ups area are used. At most once a day, when the device is online, it sends us those totals. With them come the app version, whether the device runs iOS or Android, roughly how long the app has been in use on that device (first week, 2 to 4 weeks, 1 to 3 months, or longer: never the date), whether the daily reminder is on, and a random reference for that upload so a retry isn’t counted twice. There’s no name, account, device ID or advertising ID, and nothing links an answer or a choice to a child or a device.

Internet address

Like any app that goes online, when the app downloads new Investigations or sends its daily totals, the service it connects to sees the device’s internet (IP) address. We use it only to deliver content and to protect our service from misuse. We never use it to identify, profile or track anyone.

4. How we use it

We use this information to:

The law lets us do this because we have a legitimate interest in running and funding a free learning app, and we’ve designed it to use as little information as possible. We never use information for advertising, profiling or automated decisions.

5. Who we share it with

We never sell information. Ever.

6. Children’s privacy

Chemistry4Kids is made for children aged 8 to 12, and we don’t collect personal information from them. That’s why there are no accounts, adverts, purchases, chat or sharing. Settings, the reminder and links to sponsors’ websites live in a grown-ups area behind a quick question for adults, and the app checks again before opening a sponsor’s website.

7. Notifications

A grown-up can turn on a daily learning reminder. It’s set up on the device itself, so we don’t send notifications and never receive a notification address.

8. How long we keep things

9. Where it’s processed

Our service providers may handle information in the UK and in other countries. If it leaves the UK, it’s protected by the safeguards UK data protection law requires.

10. Keeping it safe

The app only uses encrypted connections, access to our systems is restricted, and we keep what we receive to a minimum.

11. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete personal information, or object to how it’s used. Because we don’t hold anything that identifies you or your child, there’s usually nothing for us to hand over, but we’ll always answer your question. To stop the app sending daily totals, delete it. Totals we’ve already received can’t be traced to a device, so they can’t be picked out and removed.

Email privacy@mollix.app. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

12. Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If the app ever needs to collect anything new, we’ll update this policy and the app store listings first.

13. If you email us

We’ll only use your email to reply to you. We won’t keep it longer than we need to, and we’ll never add you to a mailing list.

14. This website

No cookies, no analytics, no tracking. Like any website, our hosting provider sees your internet (IP) address when you visit, so it can send you the pages and keep the site secure.
